Tarn Hows
Tarn Hows is man-made: in Victorian times a beck was dammed enlarging 3 existing tarns into one as it is seen today. The Hows are the surrounding small, wooded hills. There is an interesting link to Beatrix Potter. For a potted history of the area see LinkExternal link

Tarn Hows is also one of the Lake District National Park's "Miles without Styles" 42 walking routes. "Miles without Styles" is a national scheme giving access to people with limited mobility, wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, dog walkers with less active dogs and the visually impaired.
