Rail link bus outside Carlisle Citadel station
Rail link bus outside Carlisle Citadel station
A six month old Mercedes-Benz O.405/Optare Prisma of MacEwan, Amisfield, loads outside Carlisle Citadel railway station before making the long journey to Galashiels on the 195. This route was advertised as a rail link service (indeed, the bus has the wording "Scottish Borders Rail-Link Service" emblazoned on the side), as a partial replacement for the Waverley Route (closed to passengers in 1969); indeed, this service was advertised in the National Rail Timetable (table 65A if memory serves). Last year, the railway reached Galashiels once again, but from Edinburgh. Note the Red Star parcels drop off point (left background).
