Bournemouth: Lansdowne clock tower

A well known landmark in Bournemouth, this was built as the municipal college, completed in 1919, and remains the Bournemouth campus of Bournemouth & Poole College of Further Education.
On its completion, it was branded an eyesore; however, with the wartime bombing of the Hotel Metropole opposite and its replacement by a more modern structure – along with plenty other recent development – it is one of the oldest and most striking buildings in this part of town.

Since November 2004 the clock has been out of action and there is currently an appeal for £¾m to get the thing started again – the hands are at the moment stuck at approximately twelve o'clock, more approximately on some sides than others.
