The squadron was based at nearby RAF Baginton (now Coventry Airport) for a period during WWII. The Polish Air Force in Britain was recognised as a sovereign force with allegiance to the Polish government, but subject to the RAF in matters of training, discipline, organisation and operation. 14-11-1940 is the date of the night air raid that destroyed much of Coventry city centre.
