TQ0834 : Baynards Tunnel

taken 13 years ago, near to Rudgwick, West Sussex, Great Britain

Baynards Tunnel
Baynards Tunnel
is just south of Baynards station on the old Guildford to Horsham railway, which closed in 1965. The original plans were to have a deep cutting at this point, the summit of the line, rather than a tunnel. This is the southern portal. The northern one has been infilled and the Downs Link cycle path which follows the course of the line is diverted over the top.
