Dwarfie Stane and Dwarfie Hamars
Dwarfie Stane and Dwarfie Hamars
The stone is unique in Britain, it is a neolithic rock-cut tomb in one rock of Old Red Sandstone, dating back to ca 1600-2000BC. Grave robbers broke in through the top, to push away the blocking stone from the inside. Indoors is a very low corridor flanked by a small room on each side. Behind are the Hamars (crags in Old Norse). There was no sign of any dwarfs nor trolls!
