Stone Cross, Lower Chicksgrove
This private house in the middle of the village of Lower Chicksgrove on the north side of the east-west C road was a National School built in 1872. An apse in the 13th century style was added to the school for church services. In 1907 the attendance was 31, but by 1921 had dropped back to 20, half the number that the school could accommodate. The school was closed in 1926, and the children were transferred to Tisbury school. For more information see LinkExternal link
