HY2508 : Stromness Harbour from Ness Road

taken 17 years ago, near to Stromness, Mainland, Orkney Islands, Scotland

Stromness Harbour from Ness Road.
Stromness Harbour from Ness Road.
In the foreground is a cannon believed to have been taken from the American privateer, "Liberty", and which was fired to welcome the Hudson Bay Company ships safe return. In the distance is the car ferry to Scrabster, MV Hamnavoe. This was a favourite viewpoint of the local writer, George Mackay Brown.
