SK5419 : Approach to Loughborough station, Great Central Railway

taken 8 years ago, near to Loughborough, Leicestershire, England

Approach to Loughborough station, Great Central Railway
Approach to Loughborough station, Great Central Railway
The London extension of what was to rename itself the Great Central Railway appears to have favoured, at least on this stretch, a standard station layout of an island platform reached by stairs from an overbridge bearing the street level buildings. Loughborough was no exception. The platform is beyond the bridge. Great Central Road crosses, and it seems the railway built the road as well - before the railway there was nothing here.
