Occupation bridges at Monmouth Troy
Occupation bridges at Monmouth Troy
The arch nearest the camera carried the line to Ross on Wye, closed from Monmouth Troy to Lydbrook in January 1959. The far arch is part of Monmouth Viaduct - see SO5112 : Arches at Monmouth - which carried the Wye Valley line to Chepstow and which survived in use for freight traffic until 1964. The viaduct is now in a precarious condition and may be demolished.
