Harland Way near Thorp Arch
The Harland way is a cycle route built by Sustrans on the former Harrogate to Tadcaster railway. Here it passes close to the Thorp Arch trading estate. At this point on the former railway line there were connections and interchange sidings with the "Thorp Arch Circular Railway" set up to serve the Ordnance Factory in WW2, which now forms the trading estate. See "Railways around Harrogate - Volume 3" by Martin Bristow (ISBN 1 871944 18 X) for an article and photographs of the railway before closure in 1958.
