One of the 30 plus street signs commemorating the peace in 1919.
Bungay’s Peace Year Street Signs, 1919

At the end of the Great War in 1919 the Suffolk town of Bungay installed specially commissioned street signs around the town.
Although metal was in short supply after the war the signs were cast by Harry Rumsby’s Ironworks and Foundry of Earsham Street as it once again became available.
There are at least 32 streets bearing these commemorative signs.
A few have been lost in the process of modernisation.
Gas House Lane is one of those now confined to the history books along with the Gas House. The sign was removed when the road name was changed to Rose Lane.
Bungay lost 101 men in World War One and the memorial in the centre of the town bears their names along with 37 lost in World War Two. Link
