Northbourne: a blue and purple evening sky
Looking across the junction of Leybourne Avenue (right) and Gillam Road at about five to nine on an April evening. The changeable weather had produced some interesting skies throughout the day.
The picture, compared with SZ0796 : Northbourne: Gillam Road junction just after dusk, throws up one notable difference: the council has recently undertaken a change of lightbulbs in its street lights, from traditional yellow lamps to more energy efficient LED bulbs. These white lamps shine the light more directly downwards, giving circular pools of light with little residual illumination. Having a white van directly below the lamppost perhaps accentuates that.
