Dam Side, Barnoldswick. Yorkshire
Dam Side, Barnoldswick. Yorkshire
This group of stone-roofed cottages stand at right-angles to Gisburn Road on its east side, and really here we are looking at the backs of the cottages, as they get their name from the dam that used to be on the other side of them, where trees can just be seen at the extreme right of the picture. Many years ago, the dam was drained and its site used for allotment gardens, and partly for a nursery school. The street seen leading uphill on the picture is Gisburn Street, but the Dam Side cottages are not numbered on Gisburn Street, whose No 2 is the first house beyond Damside.
