SD8795 : Summit Cairn at 675m
taken 8 years ago, 3 km from High Shaw, North Yorkshire, England
Summit Cairn at 675m
Unlike every other "Tom, Dick & Harry" that climbs Lovely Seat from the Buttertubs Road, I had chosen (although certainly not through wisdom) to attack it from Sedbusk, this meant a rather squelchy slog across an almost featureless bog, with the occasional grouse, skylark & meadow pipit for company. On reaching the summit, I was able to take in the comprehensive views, to the north - Swaledale, to the west - Great Shunner Fell & through the gap, Wild Boar, to the south Ingleborough, Penyghent, Drumadrace, Dodd & Widdle Fell, and east - most of Wensleydale's high tops.
