The valley below is called Broad Bottom, a name which describes it accurately. To the left (out of sight) is Vereley Hill, and the bumpy heathland towards the right is Vales Moor. The tree-covered hill in the distance is Castle Hill, west of Burley Street. The purple patches are bell heather in full bloom.
