ND3865 : Bucholie Castle

Bucholie Castle
For my money, Bucholie (aka Bucholly) Castle is one of the most stunningly positioned castles in Britain, and one of the least known. Its presence is perhaps not advertised because access is so dangerous. To get into the gate tower means crossing a narrow neck of land, perhaps a metre wide, with sheer drops to the sea on either side. It was built in the 13th century by the Mowat family.
