Butts Beck, below Dam Head Bridge, Gisburn Road, Barnoldswick
Here the photographer is on the east side of Gisburn Road as he looks over the bridge parapet into the waters of Butts Beck which have just passed under Dam Head Bridge. From here, these waters, swollen by those of Crow Nest Syke, Fools Syke, and other tiny streams, will become known as Stock Beck, as which they will, at Gisburn, join the mighty River Ribble and thus make their way into the Irish Sea.
