LRTA visit to Midland Metro, 11 May 2016

The Light Rail Transit Association (LRTA) had arranged a visit to Midland Metro with the expectation of being the first passengers to travel through to the new Birmingham terminus at Stephenson Street, the public opening of which was imminent.

Frustratingly, technical issues meant that the party was not able to travel beyond the current terminus at Bull Street.

The visit began with an introductory description of the ongoing and projected extensions to Midland Metro, followed by the trip to Birmingham. This included a stop at the depot at Wednesbury to visit the workshops and control centre.

On arrival at Birmingham, some members of the party were given a guided walk over the new extension to Stephenson Street before returning to Wolverhampton.
