Former artillery park
Former artillery park
There are a number of structures in this area designed to support artillery pieces. Firing from this point was monitored from an observatory sited on nearby Craig y Penmaen. The M.O.D's Trawsfynydd Artillery Range, which had an area of 8,403 acres, functioned between 1905 and 1958. Parts of the former range still contain lethal UX materials. The most dangerous of these areas are clearly marked. Still, it would be most unwise to handle any old projectiles found anywhere on the range.
