Field of opium poppies and gallop
Field of opium poppies and gallop
The gallop seen beyond the poppies was used until recently by the racing stables at Tunworth Down House. The stables' moment of glory came in 1946 when Lovely Cottage, ridden by Captain Bobby Petre, won the Grand National at Aintree. The stables closed down in the early years of the 21st century.

The poppies are used for morphine production.
