The building just visible on the left is the Mile Post pub, then 57 Leeds Road then Padgett's greengrocery shop at 59 Leeds Road. Padgett's delivery van is parked outside. The side of the house, with shop in Mount Street, can be seen at SE3053 : Corner of Mount Street & Leeds Road, Harrogate, 1955.
Note the H-shape TV aerial; the transmitter at Holme Moss commenced broadcasts to Yorkshire in 1951. A photograph by Rob Taylor can be seen at SE0904 : BBC Transmitter Holme Moss.
Are there any more Art Deco houses in Harrogate or is this an isolated example?
The Odeon cinema was built in 1936 and is Art Deco with Odeon's own styling as seen all over the country. The Regal cinema, latterly the ABC, was built at the same time but demolished in 1983.
The West Yorkshire bus station must have been 1920s/1930s but has this been demolished now?
And M&S at the St Peter's Church end of Cambridge Street.
Scott's Corner at Leeds Road/Hookstone Road is surely Art Deco and was probably built in the period 1920 to 1935.
Should Geograph have an Art Deco category?
