Archaeology Day at the Roman Amphitheatre
Archaeology Day at the Roman Amphitheatre
A family weekend at the Roman amphitheatre was blessed with sun on the saturday, but rain on sunday. Archaeologists were on hand to discuss the site and identify finds, and Roman soldiers carried out mock fights. Part of the consolidated amphitheatre wall can be seen in the foreground, and the Chester Visitor Centre is on the other side of Little St John Street. The photo was taken from the modern walkway, which has been constructed across the amphitheatre site providing a viewing platform for visitors.
