Heathland north-west of Vereley Hill, New Forest
Heathland north-west of Vereley Hill, New Forest
Looking across from the edge of the Vereley Hill plateau towards Vales Moor - the Smugglers' Road runs along the top of the ridge on the far side of the valley. Down to the left leads to Broad Bottom. In the foreground bracken and bell heather is growing on dry heath, which soon gives way to wet heath and bogs down the slope. The low sunlight reveals the undulating topography of the far side of the valley.
