The large prehistoric cup and ring marked boulder was excavated by extracting machinery in Low Hedgeley Quarry near Powburn and lay near to the manager's office in 1994. It had been apparently found at a depth of over 3m in a gravel deposit. The boulder was donated to Northumberland National Park by RMC Aggregates (UK) Ltd and moved to the Ingram Visitor Centre in 2003.
