Lindisfarne Castle
Lindisfarne Castle
Lindisfarne castle was built in 1550 using many of the stones from Lindisfarne Priory which had been closed by King Henry VIII. The castle has positions for several cannons for the protection of Lindisfarne harbour from the Scots. It later became a coastguard look-out and finally a private residence.
