SU1902 : Track on Kingston Great Common, New Forest

Track on Kingston Great Common, New Forest
Track on Kingston Great Common, New Forest
This track leads to an area of pines on the sandy 'islands' amongst the bogs of Cranes Moor and Kingston Great Common. The gravel on the track has been bleached white by the acid conditions of the heathland soil. The rain clouds are reflected in the long puddles on the track where the soil has become compacted and impermeable.
