Path between Dur Hill Inclosure and Bisterne Common, New Forest
Path between Dur Hill Inclosure and Bisterne Common, New Forest
To the left is the Dur Hill Inclosure, whose boundary fence has long since been removed and the pines on the lower slopes harvested. To the right, on the other side of the fence, is Bisterne Common. The flooded area in the valley shows where a small stream exits from the Dur Hill Inclosure then pools up against the boundary bank before entering Bisterne Common. The fence on the right marks the western perambulation (boundary) of the Crown lands of the New Forest. It turns to the right when it reaches Lugden Barrow, just beyond the stream.
