The Church of the Son of Ewan. Ewan was a nephew of St. Columba.
The ruin date from the 13th century and fell into disuse in the early 19th century when a new church was built in Bunessan.
Below a wooden box, protected from the elements is the Mariota stone. A slate gravestone bearing the inscription HIC IACET MA/RIOTA [FIL]IA .. ‘Here lies Mariota, daughter of ……’.
