View towards Lugden Barrow from the north, New Forest
Lugden Barrow is a bronze-age round barrow, subsequently used as a boundary mound. It lies to the left of the tall silver birch tree (the one reflected in the water in the foreground). The fence on the right turns to the right at the barrow - to the left of the fence is Burley parish and the Crown lands of the New Forest, to the right of the fence is Ringwood parish and Bisterne Common, one of the "adjacent commons" of the New Forest. The water in the foreground is slight flooding from a swollen stream that carries run off water from the Dur Hill Inclosure.
