The site of the Dol-frwynog Turf Copper Mine
It is not a case of the nice forestry people leaving the area unplanted so that we can 'goograph' the scant remains of the mine. Rather, it is a case of where an over abundance of copper in the soil has actually killed the trees planted. The surviving ecology of the Dolfrwynog bog is copper tolerant and it is one of the classic areas for the study of such an ecology.
