Railway crossing near Calvert
Railway crossing near Calvert
Looking south-west, the footpath from the Calvert-Botolph Claydon C road 1.5km to the north crosses a railway to join the bridleway between Calvert and Greatmoor which is just beyond the wooden fence. The railway line coming from the left is from Aylesbury and goes to the waste transfer station at Calvert about 1km to the right, see SP6924 : Waste transfer station, Calvert Landfill Site. As the line is only used infrequently by the freight trains coming and going from Calvert, currently four a day each way, there are no crossing gates.
