taken 17 years ago, near to Calvert, Buckinghamshire, England

Railway lines near Calvert
Railway lines near Calvert
These railway lines are used by trains coming and going from the transfer station for Calvert Landfill Site which is just behind the camera, see SP6924 : Waste transfer station, Calvert Landfill Site, Calvert. Waste trains from Bath and Bristol come to Calvert along the former Oxford to Bletchley railway line which is just under 2km to the north, away from the camera. Trains from London use the railway line from the south along the route of the former Great Central Railway. The railway is only double-tracked in the vicinity of Calvert, and but for the landfill site none of these lines would have remained in use.
