taken 17 years ago, near to Ribblehead, North Yorkshire, England

Construction site for Ribblehead viaduct
Construction site for Ribblehead viaduct
Looking down from the viaduct over the land that used to hold the construction site for the viaduct. A steam powered tramway was installed to haul the huge blocks of stone used. There were also kilns for making bricks, piles of the rejects still exist on the ground, and have a blue tint due to the clay used. [Please note: Access to the railway was made available through an officially organised event. It is dangerous and a criminal offence to walk along the railway]
