Dewisland prospect
Dewisland prospect
Dewisland was the name of the old cantref or hundred (a mediaeval administrative district) around St David's and extending east. Here the image shows the view north across Dowrog Common with the farm of Maen Dewi (the name of a standing stone a little way away) to the left, the hamlet of Rhodiad y Brenin in the centre and Penberi volcanic extrusion on the coastal skyline. The pattern remains one of dispersed settlement, small fields and rough grazing with very few large trees at all.
