Stephenstown House, Co. Louth (1)
The ruins of Stephenstown House built in 1785 by Matthew Fortescue, was once a fine square five bays over basement two-storey Georgian house. It remained in the Fortescue family until recent times, being occupied by a Mrs Pyke-Fortescue until her death in 1966. After her nephew inherited the house it was sold in 1974, and by the 1980s had become a ruin. Since Kieran Campbell's photo of 1982 encroaching vegetation has all but obscured the front of the house: Link
