Here the restricted byway from Corton about 5km away runs south-east for about 1km along the eastern edge of Stockton Wood, and for only 100m in the grid square. To the left through the trees is chalk downland, see ST9736 : Iron Age settlement near Stockton Wood, Stockton. After about 700m, Stockton Wood comes to an end at the A303 trunk road. The byway crosses over the road, and continues south to Down Farm, which is at the junction of roads further south to Chilmark and Teffont Magna.
