TR3241 : Dunkirk memorial
taken 8 years ago, near to Dover, Kent, England
Dunkirk memorial
This is a stone memorial, with a bronze relief, showing a soldier carrying a wounded comrade ashore, while an attack goes on around them; it is also engraved with “Dunkirk 1940”. In the distance is the cruise ship Pacific Princess, which will be moored beside the Admiralty Pier, while, across the bay, work continues on the alterations to the Prince of Wales Pier. Planning permission has been granted by Dover District Council under application number DOV/15/01254 for the “reduction of ramps to either end of sheet pile section and construction of cargo berths and marina Curve, to be attached to masonry section”.
