Path Erosion, Black Hill
Path Erosion, Black Hill
With thousands of visitors insisting on walking along the ridge and "conquering" each and every peak concentrates the wear and tear of the hills leading to erosion. Here the early morning light picks out this erosion on the northern side of Black Hill where the formation of a gully has started. Here rain water will carry away the loosened particles making the gully deepen. The Malvern Hills Conservators have attempted several ways of solving this problem; from encouraging visitors away from certain routes to resorting to tarmac the most popular paths.
