Bridge repairs in Conwy
The bridge is a single span steel arch of 310 feet having four spandrel braced ribs of box section top and bottom chords with the semi-circular masonry faced bastions at each abutment.
Opened to traffic in 1958, Conwy Bridge carries the A547 over the River Conwy and the latest structural principal inspection has highlighted the need to carry out major refurbishment works. This will involve addressing corrosion on some of the structural parts and a complete repaint of the bridge.
The project was scheduled to last 20 weeks in total with the majority of the work taking place beneath or to the side of the road structure.
Work commenced early February 2016.
