Parci Gill
Parci Gill
A ruined farmstead at the 300m contour. Looking south east across Perci Gill. Occupants didn't seem to stay in the farm for long. According to the booklet "Snilesworth" by Bill Cowley the farm was mentioned in the 1841 census when it was occupied by a James Hugill, aged 55 farmer. In 1851 Sarah Winspear, widow of gamekeeper. 1871 Ann Chapman, 29, widow, with 5 children and 1 agricultural labourer living there. In 1881 John Bowes, 47, agricultural labourer. Finally by 1891 it was empty.
