Shanklin Station
Built as the original terminus in 1864 it was extended to Ventnor two years later then saw through trains for the next 100 years before the Beeching axe closed the extension returning Shanklin to its original terminus status. The Island Line uses former London Underground stock partly through cheapness and partly due to the low tunnel between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde St Johns Road,
