Chirk Cutting on the Llangollen Canal

A deep cutting leading to Chirk tunnel (see adjacent square). Much of the spoil from this site was moved along the canal to build various embankments. This picture was taken not long after considerable improvement works had been undertaken to the banks and towing path.
