It is very rare to see a fox for more than a few seconds. Normally, he is just a reddish flash disappearing into the undergrowth. The fox, an inveterate thief is on the increase in Snowdonia and is usually hunted by foot packs. A very plebian affair, it is a world and a half away from the world of the hunting toffs of the Home Counties. The fox has a number of Welsh names Llwynog (f. Llwynoges), Cadno coch, Canddo, Madyn and Sion Blewyn Coch.
