View from the top of the Elizabethan tower at Sissinghurst Castle Garden
Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicolson moved to Sissinghurst Castle in 1932 and transformed the garden. Paying visitors came from 1938. The garden came to the National Trust in 1967, five years after Vita's death. The garden itself is designed as a series of "rooms", each with a different character of colour and/or theme.
After climbing the 78 steps to the top of the Elizabethan tower, this is the view down to the library near the entrance to Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Beyond are the oast houses just outside the main entrance to the garden. For more information about them see Link
