SX4467 : Bere Alston railway station, Devon

taken 8 years ago, near to Bere Alston, Devon, England

Bere Alston railway station, Devon
Bere Alston railway station, Devon
Opened in 1890 by the Plymouth, Devonport and South West Junction Railway on its line from Lydford to Plymouth. It's hard to believe now, but this used to be the main line from London Waterloo to Plymouth!
View west towards Bere Ferrers and Plymouth, also Calstock and Gunnislake. Trains now reverse here on their journey from Plymouth to Gunnislake. When this image was taken, behind the camera position were the buffers marking the end of the line.
