North Bovey: towards the Warren House Inn
North Bovey: towards the Warren House Inn
Overlooking the Birch Tor Vitifier mining area, with the Warren House in the distance, well beyond the square. At least 1,177 tons of tin ore were raised from these mines between 1854 and 1910. A waterwheel as large as 40 diameter worked stamps to crush the ore and was powered by a contour leat which brought water over seven miles from an intake on the East Dart at SX625812. Tin streaming has also been carried out over this ground for centuries
