Holdenhurst: village green
Holdenhurst is the last part of the modern-day borough of Bournemouth which can really be described as a village – really a far cry from any other part of the borough. This is perhaps exacerbated by the fact that, since the late 1960s, the A338 dual carriageway that carved its way through the town has led to Holdenhurst being down a cul-de-sac.
As is evident from close inspection of a street map of the town, it was beforehand an extension of the very long Holdenhurst Road which starts in the heart of the town at the Lansdowne.
