SZ4088 : Station Road, Ningwood

taken 8 years ago, near to Ningwood, Isle of Wight, England

Station Road, Ningwood
Station Road, Ningwood
The road crossed the Newport to Freshwater railway line just the other side of the masonry village sign. Prior to the railway opening in 1889, the road was diverted a little from the straight, to bridge the railway somewhat to the left, now among the trees, but after closure in 1953 the road was diverted back again to its original course. There was a station to the left of the bridge, which survives as private house.
