NG9600 : Return of the road

Return of the road
Return of the road
This road was built to access the dam works at the west end of Loch Quoich. Unfortunately most of its route was subsequently flooded making access to Knoydart even harder, perhaps no bad thing. After the Abhainn Chosaidh the road rises above the loch and allows five kilometres of fast easy walking.
The road is linked to Barrisdale by a good path, but beware the Abhainn Chosaidh - fording this river can be difficult, dangerous or impossible with the high rainfall in the area.
Sgurr nan Coireachean in the distance.
